Default 1966 Cessna 172 G

Got checked out in a 172 G here in Dover so I have a place to rent from when I'm in town. Prices are a little more steep than I'm used to.

$85/hr wet vs the $70 & $75 I'm used to back home.

For a 1966, it was nice. New interior seating ... no carpeting or mats up front. Everything seemed to be maintained well and in good working order.

Plane handled a little differently coming in than the 'N' and 'P' I'm used to ... seems to come in more hot and maintaing speed on a stabilized approach was very key. The instructor who checked me out had me fly the pattern, downwind and all stabilized at 70kts ... and her terminology was in MPH since the a/c had MPH on the airspeed indicator as well.

I'm used to flying pattern faster and slowing down after flying past the numbers.

1.5 with her in the checkout. -- $180 (approx.)
1.4 with family -- $120 (approx.)
Realizing how much it thrilled my grandfather and dad --

Priceless!

cool, i just got checked out in a 1964 172E today. Had manual flaps. Its a pretty good rate 70 an hour wet.

That 0-300 145 horse continental is absolutely a dog compared to Lycoming powered 172s though.

We fly a 1957 172A for skydivers some times... it has a venturi powered Vac system and manual everything...

It's really fun to fly! It's got some gusto, too. it takes off in something around 500-600' with two on board, and about 1000' with a load of skydivers (total of 4 on board, 3 jumpers and a pilot). But of course once you get to about 8000' it climbs barely at 200FPM.

$55 Wet an hour

But im a partner in a 74 172 with the 180hp.

I have lots of time in a 67 172 also had the 180hp she was the local [censored]! everyone had a ride with her. over 14000 hrs on her when the owner sold it.

Your $85hr seems pretty fair most local schools charge $95hr up to $115hr.
