According to info posted at flightinfo.com (in turn gotten from coair.com employee webpage) * All furloughed pilots to be recalled by 2 July 2005 * Almost 1000 pilot retirements from July 2005 - July 2010 ( I personally think 1000 is pushing it, but there are at least several hundred retirements in that period of time). http://forums.flightinfo.com/showthr...054#post456054 Regardless though, I think the point is that of all major legacy carriers, Continental seems to be the first one to hire new guys! All of the above assumes no "Acts of God" events, etc etc. When Continental does hire guys off the streets, lets hope they at least give some sort of preferential treatment to ExpressJet guys that are interested. |

That's good news for Continental. ![]() Just wondering, will the furloughed pilots regain their senority status and fly the aircraft they last flew? Thanks. |

Good question, not sure. Continental is the only major airline to now fly only 3 types of airplanes, with respect to pilot certifications/ratings. the Boeing 737s (both classics and NGs are the same pilot group... this was stated in a Continental video of the Boeing 737 customer comments and "Continental and Boeing" video on Boeing's website). Boeing 757/767s (the 752s, 753, 762, and even the 764's are in the same type rating category the way Continental trains their pilots... makes it easy to schedule, interchange planes, commonality, etc). Boeing 777s So I'd imagine they could go back to whatever plane they were on, or just bid for another one. |

You maintain the same seniority number, and you hold what you can hold with that number. If you were a 737 F/O before and that was senior for some reason, and all you could hold now is 777 F/O then you'll end up on the 777. That number is everything. |
