I have been to Bed + Bath, CVS, Rite-Aid, Wal-Mart and no ond has a clue wha I am talking about. Does anyone know about these circular suction-cup items that are perfect for covering panel instruments (they look like a circular hockey-puck with a circular smattering of suction cups). Originally, they are meant to stick soap to the wall. I would attach a picture, but I have no web space! If anyone knows the brand name, if one could order these online! -B |

I know what you're talking about, but I haven't seen one of those in YEARS. But now you've got me curious to see if I can find them. What can I say, I don't have a life..... In the meantime, you could try Post-It Notes. |

Do you have a Dollar store near you? (One of those stores that sells lots of little crap for $1) That might be a good place to try.......

I know the ones you're talking about....we keep a couple in the airplane. I don't like them, though, because they dirty up the instruments with little octopus-type circles.... |

[/ QUOTE ] I think that's why my instructor favored Post-Its. But he didn't appreciate my humor when he said "Okay, what would you do if this happened?" and put a post-it on the VSI. I reached out, took the post-it off the VSI and handed it back to him. He said "What are you doing?" I replied "Well, if someone stuck a post-it on one of my instruments, I'd take it off!" He muttered something along the lines of "Smart @ss". And told me I knew darned well what he meant, and put the post-it back. I just laughed. |

[ QUOTE ] OOOOHHH.. Nice one Amber! [/ QUOTE ] Thanks For as responsible a student as I was, I was pretty obnoxious sometimes! My poor instructor wanted to strangle me by the end of those 4 weeks. The only reason he didn't is because I was his only student, and if he strangled me he wouldn't have had any income. |

fyi...those sporty covers are good for nothing. They lose their grip fairly easily, especially when they are being thrown around a flight bag. Stick with the post-its

I HATE the post-it notes...they always fall off, and they don't really work well...

I agree, there is no perfect solution, and the post its do come off. You could always tell the student to not look at the instruments.....kinda like not peeking under the hood...... |

I purchased a few of the soap holders at Wal-Mart this summer.... They do make great instrument covers and two of them cost less than a buck.

The Sporty's instrument covers are a little more expensive but they do have the advantage that Lloyd mentioned - they only make ONE suction mark as opposed to many from the soap holders. Funny, we used one yesterday in a 421b - the copilot's DG decided to go for a "spin" |

The static sticker instrument covers work really well if you can find them... I wish that I could tell you where to get them, but we just get 'em free from FlightSafety. I know that I've seen them in pilot shops before though. Postit's work a little better if you trim off the corners and I know that ASA makes some round ones, but they cost like 4.95 a pack. ![]() Dave |

I used those soap sucker ones until I found those static ones pavelump is talking about. You can stick 5 together and then put them in your wallet if you wanted too. They're the best.

[ QUOTE ] Lol, Amber how many ratings do you have? [/ QUOTE ] PPL (16NOV01) Was going to go straight into the instrument & commercial but I ended up getting recalled to AA & married instead. Maybe when the kids are in school I'll go to the ATP here at Aurora. |

[ QUOTE ] Geez!! Where are your priorities?? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah well, you can only play the cards you're dealt! Accepting recall was a take-it or leave-it-forever proposition, and I'd waited long enough for the wedding, it was GOING to happen! Then the second furlough happened, and baby #1 came along....... My philosophy is "airplanes will always be there for me to fly, but my babies are only young once"! |

I don't mean to sound smug, but if you can handle a baby, you definitely can take on a full flight of passengers.

Yeah, deal with one small baby, or a planeful of big ones! please note (I am exaggerating here a bit folks, it's a joke, don't give me the old "Well, if you don't like passengers then you shouldn't be a flight attendant" crap.) |
