Default Easy question, how do you guys log this?

Do you guys log every time you go to a different airport as x-country?

Or do you log x-country after you have gone a certain mileage (ex. 50nm ppl days rule)

I know I can log the first way when counting x-c time for the ATP requirement, but at the same time would feel kinda stupid logging that 47 mile round trip for a burger as x-c.

Any thoughts?

Other way around.

For the ATP, it has to be 50nm. For meeting 135 PIC mins, it can be just to any old airport. In my logbook, I logged it when it was 50+ nm. In LogbookPro, I had a seperate column for airport-to-airport XC, just so I knew when I had the 135 requirements. Once I exceeded the requirements for both, I stopped logging XC altogether...there's no point.

Hope that helped.

Thanks for straightening me out! I've been only logging 50nm+ so far and will continue to do so. I really should get that LogbookPro.
Take Care

Yeah, and once you meet the requirements when will you ever be flying less than 50NM?

Unfortunately, for me the answer is still "Yes". Shoot, I've got all the ATP mins met except for TT (250 shy there) and still debating the proper move to make from here. "option paralysis" I think they call it.

If your sole goal is 135 I may think about logging all the cross country time... other than that, greater than 50nm is more important ratings wise. I personally doubt I'll be flying 135 (you never know though)... and if I am, I can go back and figure it out... just because it's not in the cross country column doesn't mean you can't figure out how much you have.

I do the same way; I log 50+ in my logbook. I log 49 and > in a seperate column in my Jeppesen Flitelog for windows software.
