[ QUOTE ] Yeah? How is Dave these days? How does he like living under the FRZ for yet another year? What does he think about the buyout that the feds are tossing around? How about JD? Is he talking about shutting down shop again? Having flown out of two of those three airports, I can state with 100 percent certainty that if you think there is no economic impact related to these restrictions, you better not try to get your medical renewed anytime soon because you're smoking something that the FAA doesn't allow. [/ QUOTE ] Listen dude, I'm not going to argue on the internet. But in a friendly way let me remind you that acting like a spaz will make you an easy target for bullies in high school. |

No sir. You specifically said that the economic impact was limited. I just gave you three cases where it is not. Since you're up for giving unsolicited advice, let me give you some. Don't talk about things that you know nothing about. Bullies in high school? Heh, heh, heh. Cute. |

[ QUOTE ] While I'm no fan of George Bush, I'm not going to place the blame on him for these. [/ QUOTE ] True, but what I meant was is that P-49 is centralized around Crawford, Texas. That's Bush's ranch. If he's no longer Prez, there won't be a 30NM PITA around him every time he's in town. That 30NMs swallows up quite a few airports. On that note, there's no question that TFR's financially impact small business owners like FBO's, Flight Schools, and Aircraft Rental. In the grand scheme perhaps its not significant, but try explaining that to the fellow trying to keep his flight school open when things have been bad enough since 9/11; every dollar lost hurts that guy. And it's especially bad when the TFR has had no effect other than to harrass GA pilots, and has no basis on any creible threat. The TFR around Washington notwithstanding, most of them are knee-jerk feel-good measures and do nothing to increase security. < contemplates the Blue Goo beginning to swirl...> |

[ QUOTE ] Since you're up for giving unsolicited advice, let me give you some. Don't talk about things that you know nothing about. [/ QUOTE ] Ugghh. Fine if you want to keep this going. First reread my post. I said in the "bigger scheme of things". Sorry but if you can't make money at something maybe you should find another job. Now I understand that you feel your friends pain and I would agree that airports in that area have it 95% harder 95% of the time than 95% of the airports in the country. But things change and maybe the way things are these days that area isn't set up to do so well in GA. My post was aimed at the majority not the exception. And I don't care if it Clinton, Bush, or Kerry. We can't just move capitol hill to an isolated farm in Montana and have them give radio adresses just so they don't inconvinience a small sector or people. This is my closing statement (no time for more) and I hope we can all remain friends for the love of "good things". ![]() Take Care |

Just to show you I'm a lot more mature than you suggested, apology accepted. Now, on to the point. Those three airports were thriving airports, with good businesses until the stupid FRZ came along. Look, the longest runway there is 3,000 feet. So the biggest airplane you could get out of there would be a light twin. Those are NOT a threat to anyone. Fly that into the White House, and you'll break a few windows. And if you think that it's limited to just those three airports, think again. People see this, say, why don't we have one of these around my city. We've got targets that terrorists might hit. The next thing you know, you've got a Meigs situation. You simply cannot say that the ridiculous rules do not have a very significant impact on general aviation. |

Seriously, I harbor no ill will towards Hootie. He said some things that I thought were out of line, and apologized for it. Apology accepted, and we'll move on.
