Captain rates will be $85/hr, and FOs at $45 an hour. I can see it now.

[ QUOTE ] Captain rates will be $85/hr, and FOs at $45 an hour. I can see it now. [/ QUOTE ] That's a bit of an exaggeration. There has to be a limit on how low airline pay will get. |

I was flipping through the "study" guide last night, and I was unfortunately reminded that Gulfstream is a Continental Connection. Grrrrrr.

[/ QUOTE ] Oh really? http://www.airlinepilotpay.com/midat...idatlantic.htm Those are all USAir "major" airline pilots. They even use USAir as the callsign. You'll notice that the rates I posted are above 14 year rates there. And they are flying that EMB-170 that you have fallen in love with. Don't be naive. It can get LOW. |

What I mean is that it will have to stop sometime soon. How long can these pays actually get? What if all the airlines were to be PFTs? |

When they pay gets too low and they're no longer able to find people to fill the positions, they can always lobby the federal government to loosen the cabotage laws to allow foreign carriers in point-to-point destinations in the U.S.. For example, a US Airline could subcontract with Air Nambibia to perform it's Los Angeles to Dallas flights. |

So the future of airline flying isn't going anywhere. How sad |

Well, don't forget that FedEx and UPS are only talking "raises" for the next contract. Not a question of if the pay is going up, only by how much...

[ QUOTE ] So the future of airline flying isn't going anywhere. How sad [/ QUOTE ] Well, it could. It depends. I dunno! As long as we can keep US pilots flying US routes, keep cabotage laws to protect intra-US flying, we might be ok. But the second that we allow Aeroflot to fly LAX to SEA, all bets are off. |

I really hope I can get a job as a corporate/fractional/charter pilot. Is it true that some companies but their pilots in the same hotels as the guests?

I think that all depends on their corporate travel department, who you are flying, if your trip schedules match. You could stay at the same hotel, they might have a suite, you might have just a standard room, etc, but if your trips do not match, and/or you are flying the CEO or Sr. Investment Banker (people who earn 7 figure incomes) you are unlikely to stay in the same hotel.
