So guys, I have a company trip coming up on October 2nd and we just got the intinery. We are flying out on a red-eye that Friday, arriving in BOS early Saturday Morning. Saturday evening we have our black-tie function - this is our companies big annual party. So that sounds well, however today it was announced that the flight back leaves at 8:00AM - a couple people have requested to stand-by on a later flight. Me and another guy are warriors - our plan is to party hard all night, leave the clubat 6:00, get in the cab, and arrive at the airport in our tux's, bow-tie/top button undone - and hit our 8:00 flight back to the west. My concern is what type of state do we have to be in to be allowed to fly. Neither of us are bad drunks, we will ofcourse be tired, and slightly worse for wear, but causing no trouble - do you think they will have a problem - still in our tuxes it will be obvious what we have done/are doing. I have done this before flying out of Australia - however I was not really very drunk, more just tired. I fell asleep in the departure lounge - but they woke me up to get on the plane. The worst part once I arrived, my hotel room was not ready - so I had to go and sleep in the park. The only time I have heard someone being refused to fly (apart from 'Airline' - where the drunks drive home!!!) was a polo mate of mine was a warrior and hit it really hard!!! He was sick 4 times in the check-in line (good performance in my book) - but he got told he was in no state to fly! Any check in people, any advise. Or should we use the e-check in?? |

Something tells me you'll be waitlisted for a later flight either way.

Just for clarification. Do you expect to be soccer fan drunk or just polo drunk?

1: Don't reek of alcohol. (Make sure you have access to your toothbrush & mouthwash before checking in, you should be fine.) 2: Don't be an ass. If you don't give them a reason not to board you, they probably will. Seriously, I've probably had very drunk people on my flights. But they weren't obnoxious (mouthing off to me or the other pax), and they didn't reek. I didn't notice them, they didn't cause a problem, all was well. Just don't be like the guy I had boarding out of GRR. He was so wasted, as he attempted to board the plane he misjudged the turn (on the EMB where you have to turn right just inside the door). He tripped over his feet, and went sprawling face down in the aisle. It really was a most pathetic spectacle. He was the last one to board, and the agent came down to pull the bridge and the CA and I told her this guy 'appeared to be intoxicated', and we wouldn't take him. She got a little pissy at us, because she didn't want to deal with the problem, but we just couldn't take a guy who couldn't even walk to his seat. |

Boston is a fun town. But, the old puritan ethic shines through on occasion. What I mean is that I believe that they stop serving alcohol at 2:00 A.M.(at the clubs, if your private party goes later it should be fine). So, you should have a nice hangover brewing by the time you board for your 8:00 A.M. flight. btw, I did the same thing in Boston last Thanksgiving for my high school reunion. Drank until 2, went to an after party at someones house, crashed for 30 minutes on a couch and found someone to drive me to the airport in time for my flight. It was the Sunday after Thanksgiving and the security line was massive. I skipped to the front and barely made my flight. I was a wreck by the time I got to Tampa. I was supposed to then fly a Mooney 201 that evening to S.C. and land on a 2600 ft strip at night. I decided that discretion was the better part of valor and left Tampa Monday morning. Also, if you decide to "brown bag it", I think that they only sell liquor and beer at "package stores" and they close at either 10 or 11 pm. It has been a long time since I lived up there so, hopefully, I am wrong and they have changed the "blue laws". |

If you're not an ass about it, they'll probably let you board. I've shown up for boarding after a few beers before and nobody's said anything to me. Of course, if I was stumbling down drunk, and hurling in the boarding line, I have a feeling they'd have told me, nope, you aren't getting on that plane. And it would be my fault. |

[ QUOTE ] 1: Don't reek of alcohol. (Make sure you have access to your toothbrush & mouthwash before checking in, you should be fine.) Eat peanut butter prior to boarding. It covers up the smell. Smart gate agents also look for fresh listerine breath. Oh can someone actually do reseach on the peanut butter trick. I just don't see myself walking up to a cop and asking if he can tell if I have been drinking |

[/ QUOTE ] Actually, your itinerary is wrong! Instead of leaving the club at 6AM, instead leave around 2 AM with a girl. Plus, she can be your ride to the airport. And NO you won tbe required ro excgange numbers |

I stayed out until 6AM in Amsterdam, walked to my sister's house to grab my suitcase, hopped in a cab, and boarded my 8ish flight back to IAD. As stated before, if you're not acting like you've been boozing it up all night you'll be fine. No one said anything to me because I kept to myself and as soon as I was seated I fell asleep. I might reccomend a big bottle of some high quality H20 or Gatorade for the trip home. Is your tux pink or baby blue a la Dumb and Dumber? |

Dude, riding on an airliner is brutal with a hangover. I sure wouldn't recommend it. But to each his own! Disclaimer: When I say "ride", I mean IN BACK. |

After reporting directly from the bars in NYcity we would fly directly to Quantico. By the time we were halfway home over New Jersey I was thinking that jumping to my death couldn't be too painful! The good news was the CH-46 had this rocking motion that would out you right to sleep if you wern't hurting too badly. ZZZZZ!!!!! |
