Default IACRA 8710s

Folks:

I guess the FAA has just come out with this thing called IACRA, which is just like an online 8710. IACRA

I just had my first experience with it when I took my multi engine checkride today (which I passed by the way!!).

My question to you is, what is everyone's experience with it? So far, I'm probably going to stick with the traditional PDF 8710 until they can iron out all the bugs with this thing; it's just too cumbersome to use.

Both the examiner and I spent around 30 minutes trying to figure this thing out (which I didn't mind because it ate into my oral time --> shorter oral!!), so I guess that's one good thing.

It's what we've been using at my flight school for over a year now. As a CFI, I love it. I can enter my info and pull it right up from a list of instructors on a list instead of typing it out for each student I endorse. Another thing I REALLY like is if you have a student who has applied for a previous rating at your FBO/flight school you can pull up their information and some of the fields don't have to be completed again unless they've changed since their last checkride.

I guess my biggest gripe with it is having to log in/out each time something needs to be changed. It seemed like the examiner and I were having to constantly do that.

I guess I'm old fashioned... but I think paper is still quicker and easier.

A good portion of my CFI single ride oral was spent on IACRA. The biggest problem that they DE I went with had with it was the fact that it doesn't accept "pending" for a cert number. So, if you have gotten a new rating in the past 4 months and it was sent in via the old system (ie mail) then chances are you won't be able to use IACRA to do anything other then print out the form. However, if any new ratings you got in the past few months were sent in via IACRA, even if you don't have a new hard copy license you will be listed in the sytem with your new ratings.
