Default CTI program.

Is anyone here familiar or a student in one of the CTI programs? CTI is the Collegiate Training Initiative for Air Traffic Controllers.

I'm a CTI graduate from Purdue. I have submitted my name to the FAA for hiring.

If you have any questions, ask away!

Do you go OKC once you are officially hired then?

How do you pick what kind of ATC you want to do? (terminal or enroute)

I'm really intersted in doing ATC if you can't tell incase the entire flight thing falls through.

I believe that's up to the descretion of the agency. Everyone is trained on how to do everything and the agency places you where they need you that is within certification and pay-grade, to include the region (although they do take into account the regions you requested to be placed).

With that said, as you build up some seniority and gain better ratings you can request to be transferred to a different facility in a different region.

Yes, they can and do. The en route option is understaffed and so that is where they need people the most. I also am in the CTI program at Mt. San Antonio College, so I can also give you info on how our school does things.

As I said before, as you gain seniority you can bid up to the areas you want.

Just keep in mind, the FAA has to have an opening and are training people for that position.

When the VA is footing the bill, I'll do anything!!

Really, it just so happens that with the classes I took in NC at Lenoir CC, and then the classes for the Dispatcher Emphasis at MTSU, I only needed one class for the CTI program!!

I'm pretty close to the age limit, though, and so may not even be cool for me.

I will be applying to Dental School next year, though....and I'm investigating the possibility of getting my certification as a mortician....
