Default What amount of hours did it take you??

Hey everyone, new to the forums !! Just a quick question...was wondering how much you spent and how many hours it took for you to get your private and instrument rating?? I figured the best way to get an estimate is through here! Thanx guys!

Private took me about 45-50 hrs = about $3500 in a C-150.
Instrument was about 55-60 = about $5K in a Warrior.

Private : 40-something before I was heading for the ride. I don't remember how much, but the 152 was going for $38 an hour when I started, and eventually it went up to $45 an hour.... Dual was $12-15 an hour!! I'd say between $2800 and $3000, including charts, supplies, headset, etc, etc.

Instrument : I had about 160 hours of flight time, but only 17 hours of instrument flight instruction!! It can be done!!!!

Private took 46 hours in a 152. Total cost including checkride, books, charts, and medical was about $3200. Instrument...I'll be able to answer this one day.

PPL took me about 80, and I was around 170 when I got my instrument. I took my dear sweet time since I was paying as I went and working full time. I started out flying twice a week, twice a day. Then money got tight and I dropped back to twice a week. Then I had to take about a two week break b/c I couldn't even get time off to fly (holidays in a theme park suck). When it got to my instrument, I had to take a month or two off due to lack of $$$. I think I probably paid close to $7000-8000 for everything (books, medical, training, time building). Finding someone that you can buddy up on safety pilot duties can save you a bundle on the IR.

35.1 hours for private
Didn't really keep track of the instrument ... but probably in the neighborhood of 50 hours (had a problem with a CFI banging up a couple airplanes and then disapearing on me! )
