We just flew all of our schools planes from Orlando up to Georgia and Alabama. We lost 14 planes in the last hurricane - not going to let that happen again!

[ QUOTE ] "Flightsafety evacuation 9/2 - from pavelump. Waiting in line for departure. At this point Miami center is a madhouse." [/ QUOTE ] All those GA planes aren't helping the matter. Could launch in cells of 4 each with one lead.....keep down on Center's workload. |

...and I think the guy with the 140 TAS has 'clued in' -- the cat flying at 160 TAS is just hot dogging at the detriment of his logbook!

LOL and now the hurricane may be dissipating. It's amazing to see how many people have boarded up their windows THIS time, sort of like locking barn door after the horse is gone, sort of, kinda .... Ivan is looming in the Atlantic however, and may be a different story ... |

Good call on the airspeeds. I didn't even see the 161. That's pretty good for a PA44. All of the N___ATs are the 2000 models so they tend to do a little bit better. But still, it IS free time. I'd power that puppy back to 55% and err.... save gas. Ethan |

It still has to go over the warmer water near the coast. So it might intensify a little. Just lik the last one that went into the gulf, turned back, and went across the middle of florida. It too intesified a little as it came ashore

[ QUOTE ] so I gotta ask...what's that big black thing in front of the plane? [/ QUOTE ] It's called a propeller, they are fairly comon on smaller airplanes. The "shutter" speed makes it look funny. |

Doesn't it seem as if the "propeller" is not attached to anything?

[ QUOTE ] Looks like ATP is bailing out of Florida as well. [/ QUOTE ] I know a few of those tails. 2158H was in San Diego when I was in training, and it was the last PA44 I instructed with at SAT before I went to MAG. Was also the first plane I ever flew and accumulated ice. 721CK ... the chicken killer lives! Nice! 36699 and 3005D ... pretty sure I flew them, too. Ahhh the memories... |
