| Old Skool | Someone please take the airport manager out back and flog him with a rubber hose wrapped in five, $10 bills. It's a $50 difference and BOTH fares are cheap. [ QUOTE ] The carrier is not alone, as most local travelers know: Richmond's fares are historically higher than those at surrounding airports, with a $448 average round trip here, compared with $328 in Norfolk, according to the latest federal pricing study. [/ QUOTE ] Could it possibly, maybe, just might be because more people fly to/from those other cities as opposed to the traffic in and out of Richmond? My head hurts ... |

| I love this comment: [ QUOTE ] "It's pure capitalism, what's going on," Mathiasen said. "We're just on the wrong side of it." [/ QUOTE ] The free market is a bummer, huh. No body likes it when it's working "against" them. So the answer is to use taxpayer funds to attract a discount carrier. Delta does do killer business out of RIC. I'm sure it's a regular stop for Doug. |

[/ QUOTE ] Actually, SWA was supposed to start flying into Richmond. Then that whole 9/11 thing happened, and the industry went into a nose dive. Rumour has it that a new SWA city will be announced sometime this year, and Richmond is at the top of the list. Also mentioned are Savannah, GA Colorado Springs, CO and Memphis, TN (I'd be REALLY mad on that one). PHL took EVERYONE by surprise since it's a major hub (which SWA normally steers clear of) and the traffic problems are notorious. I think management saw a way to put a nail in US Air's coffin and decided to do it. |

| Agent Smith | Nope! Only been there once in the past six months! Maybe twice. I just remember it was a driving rainstorm getting in there and I was just about to reach for the TOGA switch when I got the runway environment in site. Then WHOOSH! hit a massive downpouring and shouted in falsetto: "Autobrakes on medium!" Plus, the captain's son is doing his internship down in the 'shooting gallery' district in RIC so he had lots of stories. |

Sounds like quite a deal they had there. RIC was a regular for me, on the 88 and 737. |

| Agent Smith | It probably is, but I bid weird. I like to show after 3pm and get in before 5pm on the last day, no early morning pick ups (riiiiight.) and I could usually care less where I layover because nowhere the -88 goes can even come close to matching those -90 trips. San Diego *sigh* |
