Haven't posted in awhile. Ahh, but that doesn't mean I haven't been flying. Slowly but surely I have been chipping away at the IR with a program of sim-fly-sim-fly, etc. I have a very thorough CFI-IA (with 26,000+ hours), whom I have specifically asked to make me an excellent instrument flyer, not "holder of instrument certificate." That means that we spend four lessons on holds instead of two. The simulator keeps costs down, though.

Now, since I'm taking one lesson per week, I am slow. But I am also sure. Of course, I practice every approach on MS2004 (when not screwing around). ETA on the IR is probably January.

I've already got 260 hours, so I will probably go right on to the comm. Alternatively, I might just go for the ME. You guys know that flying is a (serious) hobby for me, so you also know that I'm never going pro. There is an exception, though. I wouldn't mind getting some instructor ratings, eventually.

Any other news. Let me see. . . . Oh yes: my CFI will probably be purchasing a new C182T. He wants to start a club of probably five members. Club members will probably be able to rent at about $90 per hour, while non-members will rent at about $125. Anyone interested, just leave your email in a post. We're based at BWI.

Oh, please let him buy it before my IR ride! Flying the C182 on approaches is like cheating. Fly your WCA on the final approach course, set power, and watch the bird fly you down to DH/MDA.

Wow! I seem to have generated a good amount of controversy with that post! I sincerely apologize for stirring things up!

Seriously, I did think of one more thing, though: I will be making a mega X-C in a couple of weeks: BWI (Baltimore) - DDH (Morse State, Vermont) - TKI (Mckinney, Texas) - BWI. Of course, my CFI will be with me! Will I log these hours?
