Default Background check and driver\'s record request ?\'s.

I'm in the process of getting my driver's record and criminal history records. I noticed the National Driver's Record request form that Doug lists under his "Pilot's Tool Box" links. Will speeding tickets show up on this? I have had a couple in the past 10 years but none since becoming a pilot 2 years ago. And do I need to fill an individual form out for each state I have had a driver's license in listing the license # for eahc (I've had a licenses in 3 different states over time)?

As far as criminal history, I have never been convicted of a crime but I feel I should check it so that I know what's on there just in case. How is the best way to get this?

Any advice from people who have gotten the info I'm talking about would be appreciated. It's time to start getting resumes out the door which is an exciting time.

They should all show. I pulled my driving record at one point, and it showed a speeding ticket dated about a year prior.

As far as I know, the state driving record, and the national driving record are mutually exclusive, but I'd absolutely check the "NDR" and the state in which you're currently licensed to drive in.

Speeding tickets will absolutely show up on either as long as they're within the span of time that the SDR's and NDR's keep items on your record.

Any idea how long a ticket stays on your record? I've had no tickets in the past 2 years, 2 in the past 5, and 3 in 10 years....simply put 3 in 10 years

Actually the NDR stands for National Drivers Registry. The NDR will list only Suspensions, or revocations of your drivers liscense. Once your name is listed in the NDR it is listed forever; however when the NDR reports to an airline about a certain person the NDR will only show the airlines the last five years and any suspension enforcements still active. The FAA also checks the NDR when people apply for a medical or pilots certificate and the NDR will only report the last 7 years and suspension enforcements still in action. Only serious driving offenses are listed in the NDR. All speeding tickets are listed by your states S.O.S offices. Speeding tickets usually stay on your record for 3-5 years, if the driving offense led to a suspension of your drivers license then it will be listed for 7 years on you state driving record but varies from state to state.
