| I'm really not sure old you guys are but you shouldn't take things in life all that serious, you might get high blood pressure at an early age. By the way it was a compliment to her, not to you kids. |

| Agent Smith | She's just one of the boys, calm down sport! It's very difficult to attract a more diverse demographic to this website so I like to keep it as 'welcoming' as possible. |

| Hello Cristl, Maybe they can help! The Ninety-Nines Plus, you can always ask Angelina Jolie (new pilot) for a loan. Or maybe a job! Be creative! Good Luck! JR |

| Cristl: The 99s ARE a good resource, if you are not a member I'm sure ERAU probably has a chapter. They have great national-level scholarships, you do have to be a member for two years before being eligible to apply, however (I'll just now be eligible for this year's). Some chapters, including mine, have local-level scholarships as well. I'm sure you know about Women in Aviation, International, as well, (www.wai.org) but they too have scholarships and you can apply this year. The list just came out on their site. They are due in December and awarded in the spring, so not much help for you now I'm afraid, but several of the awards are for collegiate students (especially those in an aerospace-related curriculum), and several are only open for those who can demonstrate financial need. Good luck! You seem very enthusiastic and I know you'll chase your dreams with success. Thanks to those who have kept this on track - I'd never bash anyone for choosing a particular educational path. ERAU and UND are great for those who need 4 year degrees! I'm not in need of that, and neither are others on this site, so we've done it another way and it really doesn't matter to me how one does it. (don't get under my skin with the elitist crappy FBO airplane comment, though...) Keep us posted on this, Cristl! Sarah |

| Junior Member | Just so there's no more conflict on the issue... I know first hand that... Success is not a promise, even when you finish things faster than others or get involved in a lot of clubs and organizations. I was homeschooled starting in the third grade, and graduated from a high school in California when I was 14. I was enrolled in my first college when I was 14. My sister got a full fellowship from Syracuse University for graduate studies in mathematics when she was just turning 18. I moved to New York when I was 16, pursued other things that interested me, and went to SUNY. Made obnoxious grades, got too many awards...was the image of the student government...elected Student Trustee, Resident Assistant...studied Turkish with the Turkish Student Association at Syracuse University... And believe me, I don't fit the stereotype of what these credentials say. It doesn't make me better or more favored than anyone else in any way. I just got involved in a different method of education, is all. Even so, with what I have done, and what my sister has done, we have both had our days working at fast-food restaurants. I think it's funny, that the general public thinks people who work at those places are lazy, incompetent high-school drop-outs (I'm an elementary school drop-out, thank you!) and should be treated with less respect than those who hold higher-paying jobs. All I'm saying is that, when someone says they were in the top 10% of their class or they speak 3 languages fluently or they have a PhD...that doesn't mean they're living the high life, or have been promised it by some unwritten law. It's still difficult...don't let credentials fool you into thinking you have a shelter! It's not really there! It's difficult for all of us, but what makes it fun and what really counts is exercising your smarts in how you deal with life, not whether you memorized the table of elements. End of preaching. Okay let's talk about airplanes now wheee! |

| Junior Member | I would love to fly an ERJ-135 for ExpressJet! The US Army and Lockheed Martin have gotten together with Embraer to make an early-warning type of plane. From the picture in the article, it looked like the ERJ-135 they outfitted with the military gear is shooting out flares! |

| The engines on the Canadair were not taken from target drones, unlike another unnamed RJ. |

| [ QUOTE ] Yeah, but did the drone do better than 250 in the climb, Bog? [/ QUOTE ] The 200 is a wee underpowered and needs a lil more wing area. The ERJ can outclimb it, but not at the same speed, and once leveled off the 200 will outrun it. The 700 and 900 will squash them both. Not sure how the E170 (E180) stacks up. |

| From a purely cosmetic standpoint, I would have to say that the ERJ sure as hell beats the crap out of the CRJ. From a flying standpoint, I have no clue because I have never been in either one. It is my goal to eventually fly an ERJ, but I would be thrilled to fly a CRJ or turboprop if that is what I was offered. |

| Personally, I think the CRJ far outclasses the ERJ cosmetically. I also don't mind the ride in a CRJ. The ERJ sucks sitting in back, though. As far as which is better, it depends on what you want. Want to cruise? CRJ is your best bet. Want to get into a short field with a jet? ERJ is the way to go. |

| [ QUOTE ] Want to get into a short field with a jet? ERJ is the way to go. [/ QUOTE ] Uhhh... what? Last year we started doing CLT-MDW for US Airways in the CR2 because our ERJs could not get in and out of Midway without restrictions. We'd plop the CR2 right on in and take 50 people and all their bags with no problems. We operate the CR2 into San Luis Obispo. At 5200', that's not much pavement. Granted, the EMB-135 has great short-field capabilities, but at 30 some seats, it's in a different category. |
