Well, I just got back from my first ever CFI interview... and it left me torn. At first, I really liked the place. They were running a half hour behind and I was 15 minutes early, so that gave me 45 minutes to talk with people in the waiting area. I talked with some people who were pretty cool. Overall, my first impression was good. The actual interview however: one of the two interviewers fell asleep... and when he was awake he was an ass. I'm not sure if that was to tell me my lesson (I was teaching at the time) was boring... or if he was just tired. It did leave me with a bad feeling. I'm curious to know of other people's thoughts... Which brings me to my questions... If I'm offered a job, should I take it? My fear is that the rudeness of the interview is going to spill over into the actual job. One of my thoughts... if I'm offered the job, I'll just take it-and if I hate it I'll just quit and look elsewhere... is that a bad thing to do? Sometimes I get the feeling that turning down any CFI job is a sin... Ultimately, I know the decision is mine... just thought maybe some feedback from other people would do me good. Thanks for any input! |

The best time to find a job is when you have a job. Get in, and if you don't like it (or even if you do), start looking for better oppurtunities. My $.02 anyways. Good luck. |

No man, that was hella smooth! Like I told the guys at the Alteon/Boeing "Meet And Greet" today, the more people show up, the less I have to work on answering questions. BTW, I'll be forever indebted to Mpenguin because he rolled out the red carpet BIG TIME for us today! Man! |

If flight instructing is what you want/need to do . . . unless you have PLENTY of opportunities to get a job . . . take what is readily available to you all the while keeping an eye out for other opportunities . . . . . . we call this "situational awareness" |

[/ QUOTE ] It's POSSIBLE that this was deliberate and some sort of a "test" -- to see how you would react to a student or situation that was difficult or unusual. Then again, he might have just been a narcoleptic ass... (P.S. Go Twins! Are you in the Twin Cities?) |

As for the P.S., I'm from southern Minnesota originally. I've been living in Arizona for a year... but I still have to cheer on the Twins! |
