Default Safety Science

Is anyone in this field, or does anyone know about this field? I am specifically referring to the program offered at ERAU.

Sorry, but it sounds like another horse manure degree to me. You're getting trained in safety, but not for any particular field? So, in other words, they just throw a bunch of safety regs at you and say okay, good luck, let us know how it goes?

Minor in aviation safety and that will help if you want flight safety and do an internship with the FAA/ NTSB, etc. This will give you experience if you're wanting av safety.

If you are looking for another field, please disregard this. But also realize outside of aviation, not many people have heard of ERAU and it WILL NOT open doors in other fields.

Good luck.

It's called Risk Management in the insurance fields and it is huge.

It also pays very well.

Flew with a guy that had started a company doing consulting on risk management in hospitals and other medical areas. Their selling point was they were all pilots who were showing doctors and administrators how to use aviation principles to manage risk.

The funny part was this guy had a noticable weakness in his flying of concentrating on the small trival stuff while ignoring the important stuff. But he claimed his business was going gang busters. They supposedly had consulting contracts all over the world, including Isreal.

I'm thinking of going to get my AA degree. I was hoping that a degree in Under Water Basket Weaving would help me land a job. Anybody else have a degree in this field? If all else fails, I could get a degree in Country Music Line Dancing.

At first read I assumed it to be more of a statistical thing....like an actuarial degree. There is big money in that stuff, but after reading the courses involved it doesn't seem so. Sounds a little like BS. Not a Bachelor of Science degree, but the other kind of BS!!!
