Default The Jumpseat

You will have to excuse me, I am rather aviation retarded...If my question strikes you as naive, it is merely becuase I have only ridden in an airplane twice...

That said, what are America West's policies on, say, civilians sitting in the jumpseat on landing, etc. Especially in post 9/11 times. Has this ever been offered to civilians? Is it still? Will the captain look at me like I'm the proverbial sack of poo if I even adress him on the issue? Will he whip out his FAA-approved walkie talkie and threaten me? BTW I'm a seventeen yr. old, and I'm new here, so go easy.

Thank y'all

You won't even be able to get into the cockpit at all in flight, so getting a seat on the jumpseat would be impossible.

Damn Terrorists ruining it for everyone

Non-working crew members have not been allowed in the cockpit during flight for some time now. (Not sure if this was just a company policy or a fed thing.) But even if we were deadheading we were not allowed to go up front.

As a civilian, you would not be able to ride in the cockpit of a United States airliner at any point during the flight. The rules for international airlines may differ, you'd have to check with the airline.

You're not getting that jumpseat. Period.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but that's the way it is.
