I was going to say they don't whine in public about their jobs, but since "Always High" is clearly held against his will at Amflight I suppose I'm wrong.

I do know a few guys who have left Amflight though... hmm... they must be really cracking the whip these days with this apparently new forced pilot-tude.

My pay sucks. I fly a slow non shiney prop airplane. Nobody on the cargo ramp cares that I'm a pilot. I don't get to travel to "glamorous" destinations.

I'm getting paid a steady paycheck for the first time in my flying career. I fly a fun airplane. I'm building PIC time in a turbine airplane. Nobody at my company cares if I listen to "Foggy mountian breakdown" while I'm shooting an ILS. I don't have to deal with foreign students anymore. I'm home every morning to be with my kids.

Yes it sucks overworked, underpaid, six day workweeks, sleep in back of truck, vacations denied etc... Just leave, as long your above me in senority.

I had a great time hand-flying freight in a piston single. Met a whole bunch of interesting people, got some great experience, worked hard, played hard, made a living wage.

I like my job now even better. Fly four times a week, weekends off, still a living wage, turbine pic, and if the engine quits I've got another one.

I guess I'm gloating!

I only had 20 days off this month that really sucked. I let the FO greet the pax any ways so I don't even know they are there.

I need your Zen. At some party this weekend some of my girlfriend's librarian co-workers cornered me (another great thing about being a PILOT is hearing "oh, you're the pilot!?" when you first meet someone) and started asking me about my job.

I'm a heavy equipment operator, and I haul freight for a UPS subcontractor.

That's all they need to know.
