I read in the prelim from the NTSB that the gust lock might have still been installed in the control column...

That's what I've heard too. One of the other pilots at my company worked at Wiggins with this pilot and said he was really good.

I don't care how good you are, it's hard to fly with a control lock in place.

This accident has happened before.

It will happen again.

Please let it remind YOU that it only takes 2 seconds of mistakes to change many lives forever. The hardest part of flying single pilot operations in a day to day operation is keeping yourself "in check". It is all to easy to get way into a comfortable routine with complacency.
