I'm in the guard (non pilot) and was thinking of one day working for Ameriflight. I was curious if anybody on here has dealt with working for them while being in the guard/reserves? Or if anybody knows if they have any specific policies with regards to taking mil leave? Thanks |

I don't think it would be a problem. We have a few military and former military people working here. Like everywhere else, ameriflight really likes military people. They'd, most likley, welcome you with open arms.

They are very understanding of military commitments. A good friend of mine came here and they were happy to make sure he had time for his 1 weekend a month deals in the marine reserve. When he found out he was being deployed 2 months after his Chieftain checkride the company said how can we help. He decided to take off a few weeks early to get his affairs in order and the company said no problem and see you when you get back.

I'm just assuming but I doubt working for AMF would be managable as a military pilot in the ANG/AFR. This is considering the 1-2 flights required for the unit plus numerous deployments around the Earth. But then again, I am on the outside looking in......

We have plenty of reserve people that work at Ameriflight. Again, I'd say that they'd work with you. They absolutely love military and former military. We had a training captain/P3 pilot that worked at Ameriflight in the afternoons after he got of work at the base. We've also had pilots that are in the reserves/guard.
