Default Fedex Inquiry

Freight Dawgs,
Can someone please verify or debunk what I heard from a head flight instructor at a 141 school?
He told me that if you work for Fedex (i.e.- loading boxes or whatever), that after 6 months of employment that they will provide 3k per year towards your flight training. Anyone know anything about this?
Thanks, Dan

They will assist with any rating OTHER than your Private. And when I was there, they were actually allowing $3500 per year, but I think they did lower that back down to $3k. I left back in '05, so it could be different today though.

Thanks for the input! I guess it's worth it to load boxes for a few years.

I will be working there again soon as a courier. I had heard something like that when I was at FedEx the first time. Do you know how to go about getting this funding?

I assume you would go through Human Resources or the benefits department. If I find out anything I will forward it to you. Or if you find out anything before me, please let me know.

It goes through their tuition reimbursement program. You will need to submit to your manager a copy of your training syllabus, rating achieved, and the costs you incurred. They will then reimbuse you up to the maximum amount allowed.

So is this under the same program that pays for college tuition then? I've used that before. I was hoping it was separate, that way I could use it to pay for college and flight training.

Yes, unfortunately you have to choose between the flight training or the college tuition for reimbursement. That's the reason that it never benefited me personally. I used it for college expenses.
