Welcome to the order. Did you get your tatoo yet? Everyone has to get the tatoo. How many people made it through training with you?

LCK Floater - Just found out that I transition (Hoe) tomorrow and Thursday (and Monday? They didn't say how long it takes.) and then head to Wichita for the van.

eh...mini doesn't really do tattoos. Maybe after I lose 80 or so pounds and get back to 180.

3 of 6 made it all the way. One is doing 8 hours Thurs and Fri then heading to Wichita with me (TEB 'Van) and one is going to MEM (Baron) after he has his 1200 (10 or so short?).

50% huh?

Maybe it's time to start a freight transition course to compete with the RJ courses. I'll charge half of what ATP charges for an RJ course and guarantee your training will be in a real airplane!

For those who want that extra edge during part 135 ground school, enroll for my freight pro-standards course today!

(*looking for qualified instructors... pay commensurate with how much we can rip these guys off.)

PS - Congrats mini - if you ever pass through BDL or TEB, I'll be the good looking guy. Feel free to say hey.

Just curious where are the new hires having issues that are causing them to washout?

Not a bad idear, I wonder if we could draw up a "program" (100 hours of Baron, Navajo and Caravan time - 300 TT - part 91 plus "ground training") that the company could sell. Upon "successful completion" of the program, you could get a "guaranteed interview".

If you can sell it to 'em, I'll be glad to teach it!

As for good looking guys...I was told that was an immediate disqualifier in the interview. Looks like you slipped through the cracks

We had one fail the indoc test twice (back to back 78s) and two failed out of the sim portion. One just had poor judgement and couldn't handle the "stress" of multiple failures/abnormals. For example, a partial panel SE ILS...not good. Often enough he struggled just with one abnormal/emergency.

The other guy just had trouble "putting it together" for the stage check.

That MEM run sounds sweet...I almost wish I would have taken it. 7.5 Block on a 10 hour duty plus a 5th day every week. Sounds like tons of $ and not too much duty.

Should still be nice though....6 consecutive days off. Lots of golf.

As a Baron alum (FLX), I assure you that redline to the marker is totally acceptable. Shock cooling is a uh myth or something. Airnet guys are always really courteous about sensible sequencing based on speed (as, I should add, I try to be when one of y'alls lears is putting its pointy nose up my keister). There's a certain CASW Commander driver at CPS I'd like to have a few words with though...

PS. Welcome. Drink more, sleep less.

If you'll accept a sellout/has-been, I'm in! I'll do it on my days off, I have a reasonable amount of freight experience including a bunch of Caravan time, and a few hundred hours in the mighty Chieftain. Hell, I've even been a real freight dog 'trainer!'

Some suggested course segments that I would be willing to teach:

-What Not To Do 101
-Advanced MVFR
-Extracurricular Cockpit Activities
-How to live like a gypsy, fly like a freight dog and drink like a pirate (this is the title of my memoir that will be announced on Letterman soon)

P.S.- Congrats, mini!

That's all good stuff - except a certain ex freight dawgger will have to teach the bolded part above.

Hey I've got a few things I can teach on my 7 days off a month. Like:

"How to deal with extreme cold when its minus 20 degrees C out and the cabin heat is not working."

or..

"How to deal with extreme heat when its 110 degrees F out and the bleed heat is stuck in the on position"

I'll even throw the bonus course of "Should I really be sitting the lab mice on top of the radioactive material and dry ice?"

Depends on what results you're trying to achieve. Sometimes on top of the nukes is best...sometimes in the nose section is best.

Do you want fried or frozen mice?
