I dont want to start yet another airnet thread, and this is an easy one. Do you accumulate seniority as a prop SIC for the basis of upgrades into the Lear?

You do, but you still need 2000 hours total time to bid. So if you come in with 500, SIC to 1200 (good god) you would still need to fly another 800 hours as prop PIC before being eligible to bid on jet spots.

Wait, wait, wait....you only need 2000 TT to bid for the lears? What if you already have more than 2000 TT, do you still need to do a year in the props? -mini |

| Old Skool | You can bid them right away but you probably will have someone above you in senority that will bid on them.

| Old Skool | For the most part senority always takes care of the issue. You will usually not skip any more then 5 people to get a jet.

| Old Skool | Seniority is unfair? Its about as fair as you can get. You get hired to the bottom of the list with however many hours you have, and the next guy on the list with 2000TT gets the spot, the new guy isn't the next one in line.

Something about being new to the scene with 2500 TT and being able to bid for the "higher" spot when someone that's been there 6 months can't......that seems to be unfair a bit. Wouldn't you agree? -mini

Yeah sorry about that. Lots of companies have "upgrade minimums" above the minimum required licence from the FAA. On the 121 side I know Pinnacle and SkyWest do. The NetJet minimums are written into their owners contracts. I'm sure that there are more examples similar to that out there.

Question - Say in about a year after I fulfill my current contract at my company and I have my CFI/II/MEI with abtou 1100 tt and 400 multi. What are the odds of getting AGC as a base if I were to get hired? I am wanting more and more to work at Airnet. Any info or wisdom is appreicated! |

FWIW, I've also heard there's no "reserve" at AGC. I guess we'll see. -mini

Currently Airnet may hire into base. Which means you could ask to be hired only if you get AGC. If they allow that, then you will fly reserve out of AGC until a line opens up that you can hold in base. But this was really designed to find pilots for places like TEB that has multiple runs and can to be tough to fill so they may just say no to hiring into AGC.

Things like this change constantly at companies like AirNet. When I went to AirNet, MKE was a very junior base and the odds of me getting MKE with 2-3 months after training were very good. However, after 8 months of waiting for it to show up on the bid sheet, a guy 6 spots senior to me got it. Back then in 2006, AirNet absolutely, positively would not hire into a base. Now they will. Back then AGC was somewhat junior, but there are people that are from there that would love to be based at AGC and wait until a jet spot opens at a different specific base. Things get very difficult when someone is very picky about their base. If you are picky about the base you want, just remember there are other people that are the same way. You'll move up WAY faster if you drop the conditions of hire, conditions of upgrade, etc...

The word now is that AGC is not available and they're sending people to LCK to be on reserve. It's not the 8/6 that we were told about though, it's something like a 5/2 or 4/3...according to the gentleman I spoke with yesterday. We'll see. -mini |

If you bid on an actual permanent reserve slot, make sure you know all the details, like days on and days off and such. There was a guy not too long ago who bid reserve in BHM and thought it would be 8/6. Turns out it was 5/2 and he thought it was displayed incorrectly on the bid sheet. He pulled his bid after being awarded and despite saying the run wasn't represented correctly, the chief pilot base locked him for a year on his next bid.

Yes but the only reserves that have 8/6 are LCK.
