Do you have any? If yes, then you meet the competitive minimums for a Chieftain position, so go ahead and apply. |

And... UH... I'm telling you, if you have any multi along with the rest of the 135 mins, you're probably competitive. They hire below the published multi mins all the time, so I can't give you a magical range that would mean anything. Just apply online, call them up, and see what happens.

I 'think' he means competitive is all that it takes so that the text on your license says "commercial pilot Multi-engine land" if you did your add-on in 5 hours then 1200/5 would be competitive. Edit: He beat me to it.

If you have 135 mins, a multi rating, and your resume in....you should get a call. If not PM me your name and I'll see what I can do.

I should have 135 mins by February....with maybe 25-50 multi. If you have less than 1200 or are short on night time for example, I assume you can sit right seat until reaching 135 IFR?

Amflight is a single pilot operation. No need for right seaters.

Not sure the specs, but a CFI friend of mine got a job with Colgan Air flying a Saab. 900hrs, 55 multi. Most likely flying right seat though.

Colgan is Part 121....they don't really care about your flight time. Part 135 IFR single pilot is a bit different. |

If you are within twenty hours of the minimums, apply. You'll do about twenty hours in training anyway. I was a few hours short of the night requirement and I got it during training.

I was hired last month with 25 hours of multi time. It's really exactly as EatSleepFly and KLB said. If you have a commercial multi and 135.243c requirements you'll probably get a call.

What about the system TDY situation at Amflight, is it competitive or is it something most people dont want? I'm interested in amflight and I'll be at 1500 hours in a few months (about 600 multi) and was wondering if it would be possible to go straight into a TDY position. | |

| Is that a hard base to get in to? I'm currently instructing at MWH and I think by the time I leave here with my 4 year I will probably well with in 135 minimums. This is one of the places I am looking at to stay close to home.

| Everyone has told me that historically it's one of the hardest. With the regionals taking all the pilots before they get to 1200 hours things have changed a little. I can't say what it'll be like here when you want to apply, but I'm sure the company will be hiring somewhere.

You can get into any Chieftain base you want these days, I can almost guarantee it. If they try to give you some song and dance about not needing pilots at XXX, just shrug and say, "oh well, I'll take that job with Skywest then" and watch them trip over themselves to offer you what you wanted. It's a pilot's market, take advantage of it- they do the same when the tables are turned, believe me.

I love flying here in the northwest and wouldn't want to really move away from here.

If you applied for BFI, you'd most likely get it. You could get PDX easily because they are short on pilots. Like ESF said, everyone's short everywhere. They'll give you what you want.
