| I think a secret clearance just requires a national background check of some sort and also a local agency check. They also do a credit check on you. It would take a few months to get depending process times and how complicated your background is. | The process you're looking for to obtain a Secret clearance is called a "National Agency Check", or NAC.

| I don't think they actually issue you a secret clearance, but they do say you must "be qualified" to hold a secret clearance due to the AMC work. |
