| Nothing is crappy about SLC. I should have worded that sentence differently. Getting hired into a 99 requires you to take a crappy outstation (one nobody already here wants) OR get hired into SLC or BIL which are turbine only bases.

Gotta love AMF... Can't find 'Jo drivers, but they can hire 99 drivers off the street to take YOUR opening. Happened to me when I was trying to leave PDX. Awarded the bid in August, didn't get a class till January. In the meantime, Tinman got hired off the street and had a 1900 before I even got to SLC. Oh well, Tinman IS the man... Well, scratch that, it was a 1900 that popped his cherry, not a Tube. |

It's still happening up in Portland, and we're losing pilots over it. That seems to be the way things work; you've got the senority to hold a new piece of equipment in another base, your seat and base lock is up and instead of sending you to school, we'll hire somebody else off the street and send them to plug the hole instead. So then we lose said Chieftain driver out of that base anyways when they quit. Good stuff I tell ya. |

people are dropping like flys... phx is also loosing people now at least when I get to SLC i won't be junior.... that would be funny senior to 4 99 drivers with the least amount of 99 experience go figure ha the other day not enough chieftains for chieftain pilots so they send 99s on a chieftain run

Yeah, when I finally got to SLC I was number 3 of like 9 of the 99 pilots. I was senior to one 1900 and one Metro pilot. If they would have transferred me sooner, rather than hire off the street, I would have had a Metro about 4 months sooner. Oh well. Timing ended up working out for the best.

But if I hadn't, we wouldn't have got to spend that quality time together in BUR! Must've been when I put down 1)SLC 2)PDX 3)SLC as my bases of choice. They knew I wanted it more !
