| Old Skool | After you are PIC qualified you will start bidding for a run. The night you win that bid you find out where.

I see alot of benefits from SICing for a few weeks. Two IOE flights doesn't fully transitition you from person to freight dawg.

| Old Skool | Yeah, I agree. Realities being what they are, I'll probably show up with about 1150-ish... SICing would certainly help me learn the ropes I'm sure.

Yeah they send you to a high time Baron run to build your time. You'll get some options most likely but your on your own about finding a place. Alot of guys choose a city near some friends or family or just crashpad it.

I'm not at the required hours to apply but if I do, I want to SIC for awhile. The question I'm looking to get answered is will my age (57) be an issue ??? I know not to consider the regionals because of my age but 135, I can work till I'm 65. I'm building my TT & ME time out of my pension so I hope I'm not investing into a dead end. I have the question out to a recruiter hoping for an honest answer. Any comments/thoughts/suggestions/warnings ?? |

Your age definetly won't be an issue. If you stayed at airnet until you were 65 you would be one of the most senior pilots here. Your only problems would be young 23 year olds like me calling you grandpa. But thats only if you call me son or put on Happy Days in the crew room.

Hey ... I hear grandpa already .... I really am one so you can't hurt my feelings. TT won't be an issue but ME time will be expensive. Fly Aviator in FL has a 100 hour block in a Beach Baron for $9500.00. That sounds tough to beat. I already have my IFR. |

| Old Skool | Airnet has no multi time requirment. Just the rating.

I'm getting more info from you than the recruiter. Thanks ..... If I'm OK with SIC for 6 months, how much time would you suggest before I actually apply ???

If hired, they'll put you in a hiring pool and will bring you to class when you have about 1050 TT. | |

Anywhere between 500-800hours. Just had a buddy brought into interview and he had a shade under 7. We need pilots. The training program is still tough. And this is a good thing. We just had a class where 3/4 failed. All were in the 800-900hour tt range. Come here with SOLID IFR skills and you'll be fine. Don't come here with the attitude that this is just flying a baron because the program will wash you out right away.

I will be sure to sharpen up my IFR skills but I'm a better IFR pilot than VFR. I got into some bad VFR habits because I flew so much IFR. Where do most of the SIC new hires get sent?? And does Airnet have any jumpseat arrangements with many major carriers ??

| Old Skool | SICs get sent to high time Baron runs usually. If you perfer to goto a lower time baron run that is close to home they may allow it but don't pin your hopes on it. We have jumpseat agreements with around 30 airlines. And we are CASS approved.

Thanks again ... I just heard from the recruiter ( I had left a message). She confirmed age would not be an issue. She also gave me 1000 TT & 500 pic as minimums. I'm assuming that is what is considered competitive. I'm not clear on the 'hiring pool' verses training. (What is CASS approved)??? |

Hiring pool is a no mans land. You are hired but haven't gotten a class date yet. Usually they will hire people and as soon as they have enough demand for new pilots and room for a new class you'll get a class date. CASS is a program that allows you to sit in the cockpit while jumpseating.

To not start another topic, I had my own quick q about anet. How long till someone sees captain on the Lears? Obviously the wait to fly SIC is about 1.5 years (now). Just curious, thanks.

Can someone PM me AirNet's human resources email? I faxed them an app (non-flying position) and want to make sure it was received. I'm not so sure about this fax machine.
