Do you freight dawgs have max surface winds that you are allowed to fly in? If so, what are they? I half expect you seasoned freighters to laugh at this and tell me that you fly in anything short of a hurricane, but it's gotta be pretty exciting landing a baron with 40+ kt surface winds! |

Company policy for us is no takeoffs or landings with 40+ knots, and no taxiing in 50+ knots. Sounds like a lot, but those kind of winds are not too uncommon at some of the destinations we fly to (Oregon coast, etc.). Yee haw! |

| How is it that landing in 75+ knot winds makes you smart? Oh wait...it doesn't, especially in a small aircraft like a baron.

How is it that getting paid minimum wage to push buttons makes you smart? Oh wait...it doesn't, especially in aircraft with 50+ seats! C'mon wheels, that's just freight dawg bashing - He nowhere said he's flying in 75+knt winds or that he thinks that's smart.

Landing a baron in a stiff wind is, IMO, easier than the CRJ, so you guys can pull your shirts apart and show your chests all you want, it's kind of amusing to see you brag. I think if you saw how much I actually worked you would know why I get paid minimum wage !

Actually, if you read, it says "Short of a hurricane," not "in a hurricane." Also, don't really see it as bragging but if you do that's cool.

Hows about you go double ding your FA, get yourself some coffee and think about what a great deal that 6 year upgrade is and we'll go and get some actual flying done.

| Well he highlighted "you fly in anything short of a hurricane" and then said, "done that too." Sure sounds like he said he "flew in anything short of a hurricane"

Wow did not want to ruffle anyones feathers but I guess I have. Clearly I have to be more specific. I didn't fly into the eye of a hurricane. Squalls and the such. And yes having lived in South Florida my whole life I've EVACd planes through 4 hurricanes. Lay off and don't think I said I was cool, I don't wear stripes on my shoulders therefore I'm not.

I've flown in some pretty stiff winds. Landed with winds pushing into the upper 30's, and as I hit about a 1 mile final and got a wind check, they'd shift around to a slight tailwind, gusting to 49 . With the weather deteriorating rapidly, landing that puppy was the best option at that moment. As I stopped off the runway, into the wind, I was indicating 40+. Nice.

| Yeah it sucks - when I got on property things were moving pretty quickly. Upgrade got down to the 2.5 year level. Now there haven't been any upgrades in almost 6 months. I'm at a point where I am seriously considering jumping ship, but then I think about my 17 (hard) - 25+ (soft) days off a month and honestly, just can't do it. I know I should though, but to do it would mean go to a company somewhere in the midwest or west coast, and I already did that once, and didn't like it very much.

I have to wonder what you do with your 17-25 days off a month, if you never miss an opportunity to stir up #### in a forum that has nothing to do with you.

Max wind speed for t.o./landing is determined by whether the banks are open.

40 for all aircraft except for the caravans. 35 kts for the singles and enjoy the monsoons. Don't open the door on the Shorts unless it's 50 knots or less. Spend a couple of days on Kau'ai...not all that bad but be ready to have the wind escort you out of the doorway when you open it.
