Does anybody have inside information on Empire Airlines (FedEx feeder out of Hayden, ID)? They appear to be a relatively small company, so it's proving to be difficult to find info on things like upgrade time, QOL, etc. Anybody? |

Very competitive company. It really helps to know someone there that can get you in the door. There is not a lot of movement from what I understand becuase they are very decent to work for, and a lot of people flying for them are either ex-121 guys or guys that aren't wanting to go anywhere else. From what I was told they like to bring guys up from the Caravan into the Fokker and ATR as FO's and then Capt. as openings occur. But they seem pretty stable and the pilots I know there really like it and aren't scrambling to move on. |

I usually eat breakfast with some Empire Caravan dudes at some of the layovers. From what I can gather is that to fly the caravan for them you have to either have loads of time (im talking 121 airliners, etc.) and know somebody to get into the base that you want. Or you have to suck it up and move to some #####load run in who knows where and do it for like a year or two before tranfering. At least out in the Arizona system they are all older guys 40-55ish who got furloughed or screwed along the way and are happy as can be working 14-17 days a month flying a caravan for 40grand. Meaning no movement. If you want to be an FO and fly 40 hours a month and never upgrade go to the 121 side. Id rather get flogged at a regional and get 100 hours per month and have the tt to upgrade when the day came. So in closing the QOL on the 135 side is good and I here its not bad for entry level freight if you live where the 121 bases start and end and you go there with 2000tt plus so you'll have enough time to upgrade this decade. Good luck!

Oh, I see. She's not a super cool cargo cat anymore. Oh well.

Just go over and ask to look inside her plane. Tell her you just fly the little metro on the other side and wanted to see inside a big airplane. Wait for me to get up there first though(after Thanksgiving)! |

Hey, I finally start IOE on Friday. I actually have Turkey day off and the day after. Is anyone sticking around or is everyone heading back home? I'm going to stay around because I only have two days off. Plus I was just home for almost two weeks.
