| Have any of you guys worked at both AirNet and Ameriflight? I was curious how they compared to one another. I currently work at AirNet so I don't need much insight on that side but I would be interested to hear how things are at Ameriflight. How long do you sit in the Navajo before you're in the 99 or 1900? Are there concerns about electronic banking affecting Ameriflight as there are with it affecting AirNet? Just curious what other companies that are around the same level (I assume) as mine are like to work at. Thanks Last edited by dpilot83; September 4th, 2006 at 01:08. | Upgrade at Ameriflight depends on mainly staffing needs at the time. And alot to do with base you reside at as well. Like SLC desperately needs 99 pilots right now. BUR is pretty fat with them. At BUR I flew the Cheiftain for 5mos before I got a 99 seat. As far as the bank stuff, thats really only the Cheiftains for Amf. The turbine equipment mainly serves DHL and UPS as customers so no worries there. |

| Thanks. Does everyone start in the Navajo? The website almost looked like they're hiring right into the 99 and metro. That seems to be quite a bit different than the way AirNet works things...I don't think people get hired directly into the Lears very often. |

| Depends on what base and the experience you have. It is not unheard of to go straight into the 99, but that is a case by case basis more then anything. The metro/1900 slots are usually taken as upgrades in the company unless they just can't find someone that wants to take the run (usually an outstation). |

| Do Ameriflight pilots get some decent flight time? I've seen upwards of 110 sometimes even 120 a month on some runs at AirNet. What I'm seeing on current openings at Ameriflight says between 2 and 4 hours a night...if that is typical that's not too much. Sounds kinda like a max of around 80 hours a month and possibly 40 or less a month. I would imagine the ones that are listed are the ones that they can't get anyone else in the compnay to bid on though. |

| We have one run in the 99 out of Salt Lake that gets 5+ hours per night. It's the most senior though, and I got upgraded to the Metro before I could even have that one. Now flying 2 - 2.3 hours a day. Averaging about 40 or so hours a month. Not a lot of flying out of the SLC base, but its stable work, decent pay and fast upgrade. Gotta look at your priorities and decide what suits you best. We've had some leave for SkyWest, but who knows what the state of the regionals will be before they upgrade to captain. Regionals might work out better and then again they might not. |

| Hiring straight into the B99 in SLC and straight into the Metro in Puerto Rico if you have ample Multi. As said before, upgrades to the B99 in Burbank happen fairly quick, Phoenix is full of 99 pilots right now - could possibly get hired into the Navajo but would have a long upgrade (good routes, schedules, ACP and group of guys, but not a great time builder). |

| do whichever one has the base that you desire to live in. If you have a hard on to fly a lear then go airnet, if you have a hard on to get some quick turbine pic in a metro then do ameriflight. if you love the night then do ainet, if you hate the night then do ameriflight. good luck!

Is upgrade to the B99 still running a long time at PDX? Is any hiring happening at BFI? These would be my bases of choice... then again, I'd probably be willing to live somewhere I can upgrade to heavier equipment quickly. What are the chances of getting hired straight into a B99 with 1,300TT, 400ME and 100 twin turbine PIC? (Approx what my numbers will look like when my CFI contract expires in 12 weeks.) Thanks for all of the great info again. | |

| Waflyboy, if you are willing to move to SLC you could get hired tomorrow directly into the 99.

| Just out of curiosity what are the chances of straight to the 99 in SLC with 1350TT 230Multi no turbine? Already live in SLC.

| Probably none at the moment. I just walked in a resume for somebody with the same times, but with some turbine time and King Air school and I think they said he didn't have enough to interview for the 99. But they've hired people with those times in the past, so who knows. Can't hurt to try. |

| Old Skool | You could try to get on with Ameriflight and go fly a Chieftan in Burbank for a few months until you can get back to Salt Lake if you can't get an interview for just the SLC base. |
