I thought I heard that you didn’t have to meet 135 minimums to become an instructor for a 135 outfit. I have been looking at 135.338 and don’t know if I’m missing something or what but doesn’t 135.338(b) (1) state that you must be eligible to operate as PIC under 135 in order to instruct? Thanks -Sean |

Technically, an instructor under Part 135 does not even need to hold a CFI. Basically, Part 135.338 spells out who can become qualified as an instructor, and Part 135.340 spells out the hoops to jump through to do it. | |

I gave over 100 hours of training in Cessna 400 series aircraft without even an MEI. Sure was better than forking over all that money for the MEI!!!!

Read the thread, John! ![]() You don't have to be a CFI, CFII, or MEI to be a company instructor under Part 135. |
