I was wondering how hard it is to commute? Do any of the current employees currently commute and how hard is it to get on the air carrier? They do have air carrier "jumpseat" options do they not? Any certain airlines?

Do you mean to work everyday?? I doubt thats possible as you wouldn't ever be home long enough to sleep before you'd have to come back. As for the weekends I've got a friend whose been coming home every mornin and then flyin back monday afternoon to start his run. |

Yes, I commute from JAX to LCK every week. It's not bad, but not a life for everybody. Fortunately, I was a lucky one and got a LCK floater spot out of training. We have jumpseat agreements with 20+ airlines, which includes everybody, except Delta, American, United, US Air, and I believe Continental, and some of the regionals. For the most part, most of our pilots hop on NWA, SWA, or a variety of regionals or other cargo operators. I have had no problems jumpseating on SWA, NWA, or anybody else I have tried getting on that was on our list except the Comair and ASA people...they are a pain in all Airnet pilots' butts. They refuse to look at the Comair or ASA list and only look at Delta's, so most of us avoid trying to get on them, from the people I have talked to anyways. Usually I am able to ride our own system wherever I am trying to go (we have a few Lears that come in and out of JAX every night), but have jumpseated quite a bit also. As a side note, we are hoping to get on the CASS system soon...we'll see. Where are you trying to commute from? If you end up with a normal run (which is more than likely), it will be more difficult to commute (2-3 days off vs 6). Good luck |
