I was just looking at Ameriflight's web site and saw their listing for Lance instructors in Burbank and Oakland. Does anybody know much about these positions? Would they hire for just a summer (I have one year of school left, looking for a summer job, would like to get in at Amflight eventually)? How many hours could you get, working full time? What sort of pay? What sort of teaching? Is there a point of contact within the company I could ask these questions to? Thanks in advance. |

probably not happening, since we are getting rid of the lances and they are not letting the current lance guys upgrade to the chieftan because they dont want to train new lance guys.

Yeah all the lances are pretty much gone - I think they only have 1 left. They also would not hire you for just a summer, by the time you have complete training and just about settled in, you would be leaving.

I know it has been six months since this thread been toched, but I was wondering if anybody on JC has had this job before (FAR 91 Instructor)? What is a typical day like? How many hours an instructor log at AMF per month? What is the interview like? Do they fly you out there or find your own way to the interview? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Probably have to find your own way out (fly into Burbank). Have been based there, not in the training department but know it's a pretty good deal. Basically takes place of flight instructing somewhere else. I think it's a good deal if you don't have 135 minimums, and when you get them (through giving offline flight training and flying the routes with captains on days you have no training to do), then you can fly the line. Also, they are no longer flying Lances.
