Default Castle Air cargo

I seen one of Castle's caravans today. I was wondering how they were to work for and waht the pay may be? The guys told me they were based out
of Akron Ohio.

Thanks

Yes, they are at CAK. They have caravans, aerostar, and Saab 340. They seem to have a fairly good business going. They are do formation flying with the caravans at the local airshow, cool to see.

I interviewed there last year. They didn't need anyone at the time, and I ended up flying for their closest competition (geographically, equipment, and type of flying).

Castle seems like a good company. They do a mix of on-demand and scheduled runs. Pay is good, and pilots are FlightSafety trained in the Caravans. I believe the schedule is 5 days a week, weekends off. One weekend on call a month. Mix of night and day flying, but seems like a lot of night. I talked to a few of their guys a lot on the road, and they seemed pretty happy.

They no longer have the Saab 340 though. It went bye-bye recently. Not sure exactly why, but from what I understand, it didn't make the greatest freighter. I believe I also heard somewhere that they are not going to keep the Aerostars around forever. They really love Caravans there (and rightfully so given the type of flying they do- they're perfect), so don't go there looking to build multiengine time. They are starting some pax stuff now, and have (had?) a Citation something, a Cheyanne, and a Beechjet 400. Not sure if they hire directly into that side, but I doubt it. I think they move freight guys over. Oh yeah, and they crew an old 747 for some televangelist in the area that owns it, but don't expect to move from the Caravan to that!

Anyways, that's about all I know. Overall, I got a good impression from them. If you're a solid instrument pilot and willing to work hard, but make good money, give them a try!
