I have a keen interest in the freight side of flying and found Astar to have a smaller crew base and was wondering what are the possibilities available there,ie advancement pay and hiring?

Astar is the combination of DHL and ABX. Not sure if they're hiring as a separate carrier from the others or not. From what I've heard about DHL, you'll sit sideways for about 4-7 years before seeing the FO seat, then another 2-5 years on reserve there. I believe the only crew base for all 3 is Wilmington, OH. There's no airline service there, so you'll have to fly and drive to commute it.

Not to be nit picky, but AStar is the former DHL Airways (DC-8-70's, A300B4's, and 727's). ABX Air is the former Airborne Express. They are both now ACMI carriers for DHL Worldwide. The operation is moving to ILN this October. AStar and ABX Air are still two completely seperate companies... |
