Default Quoting

On another forum I frequent, when you make two posts in a row (such as quoting 2 different people), it automatically combines the 2 seperate threads into one, but keeps the quotes from your responses. Is there any way to do this here? I just responded to 3 different people, which resulted in 3 different posts being made. Thanks for all the hard work.

In the bottom right-hand corner of each post you'll see 3 button/icons.

The first is a page with a quill and the word Quote. (Hover over the button and you'll see it's labeled "Reply With Quote.") Click on that to Reply to that post with a Quote from that post.

The third button is the same page and quill without the word Quote. (Hover over it and you'll see it's labeled "Quick reply to this message.") Click on that to respond to the post without including a quote.

If you want to respond to several posts, including quotes from each, you need to click on the middle button/icon, the one with the page, a Quotation mark, and a plus sign. (Hover over it and you'll see it's labeled "Multi-Quote This Message.") When you click on this icon, the button changes colors, from blue to red. Click on all the posts you want to "Multi-Quote," and then click on the Quote button of one of the selected posts.

And then go to town - - have fun.

Furthermore...

I just discovered, quite by accident, that this feature is not only good for multiple posts in a single thread, but for posts in different threads. If you "select" a post with the "Multi-Quote This Message" button in one thread, and then quote a post in another thread, the following line will appear immediately below the text box where you type your post:

Quote:

You have selected 1 post that is not part of this thread. Quote this post as well, or deselect this post.

Pretty nifty, huh?
