| This isn't really "Tech Support" related, but I noticed there's no forum for Feedback. NewsBot ?!?!?!!? . |

| Agent Smith | Just a generic username that posts the RSS content. No likey? I'm kind of "unsold" so far myself, so tell me what you think.

| How about this... A link on the home page to aviation news bot related things. A person could go there and click on it if their interested. I get a daily email called the ATA smart brief for my airline news. |

| Old Skool | At first clicking the new posts link got 3 pages of news bot stuff. Now it's back to posts only, which I like.

| Agent Smith | It was a modification I had to make to tell the software NOT to look at certain forums. It's something the developers left out I guess but some kid in Switzerland figured out how to do.

| Agent Smith | You mean a link to the aviation news forum on the main jetcareers.com webpage, a link in the forums to a regular HTML page with news or wait, now I've even confused myself as to what I'm asking...

| Never mind. I went to the home page and see you already have a news thing in the upper right hand corner. That should be good enough for those who are looking for aviation news stuff. |

| I'm not really a fan either. 'newsbot' just seems kind of impersonal and almost spam-ish. For those who really want their aviation news, they can use the link on the main page. Just my take on it!

| Old Skool | Click "New Posts" again and they disappear.

| Strange stuff. You're right, the "New Posts" button doesn't pick them up. I use a little different technique. I have my home page set to "http://forums.jetcareers.com/search.php?do=getnew", and the "getnew" command will pick up the NewsBot posts. I often use keyboard shortcuts instead of the mouse when I'm on my notebook, and <Ctrl><spacebar> takes me to my home page and is lots faster than using the touchpad to move the pointer and click "New Posts", so I end up with a page full of NewsBot posts. Time to experiment a little bit I guess... ![]()

| Well that was easier than I thought. I just changed my homepage address to "http://forums.jetcareers.com/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=86,87,88" and it no longer picks up the Newsfeed forums. Just had to hover my mouse over the "New Posts" button to see what address Dough used there and I found the "exclude" adder. ![]()

| Agent Smith | I changed the phrase that grabbed the new posts so it defaults to exclude certain forums. Now if you have the old link, it's going to under-ride my over-ride, catch that on the flip-side bro-ham? ![]()

Looked for it. Found it. Got it. Did it. All while you were still tucked in. So, what's a "bro-ham"? ![]()

As a work-around, I have a bookmark that goes to this address: http ://forums.jetcareers.com/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=86,87,88 Here is the actual link: New Posts The "&exclude=86,87,88" term tells it to skip the NewsBot forums when looking for new posts. Hopefully Doug will straighten that back out when he has a chance.
