Question Anybody having Norton Anti-virus problems?

Recently I have been getting these "intrusion alerts" from my Norton Anti-virus when I visit the Jetcareers forums:

intrusion: ICC profile tagdata overflow
intruder: jetcareers.com(84.40.28.95)(http(80))
attacked by: local host
Norton then "locks out" jetcareers.com for 30 mins. I can override Norton to allow access to Jetcareers.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Ya, mine would block this site for like 30 mins before it would let me back in, I just put the IP under trusted networks in the Personal firewall menu.

Just a tip: stop using Norton Antivirus:

Go to www.free-av.com and download the best antivirus software around, antivir. It's free and kicks butt. Make sure you only use one antivirus software at a time on your system or you're computer will be slowed. Firefox is the best browser to use since 98% of all virusses are set to attack internet explorer.

Viruses are kicking Norton's butt, Antivir is the only way to go in my opinion.

Aside from being a financial planner, I'm our IT guy as well and this is what I have everyone do to protect themselves...cheers

I have this problem lately myself. Even though I listed it in the exceptions, it still gives me problems once in a while. Even when I disable Norton I still can't access JC until my .5 hour time-out is complete.

Thanks! You're not the first person I have heard this from. My free trial of Norton is history, and I have Antivir now.

Good stuff man, you won't be sorry. Oh, and if you ever get a virus that just won;t get off your computer, go to www.geekstogo.com and join the forum, follow the directions, and you'll be virus free in no time. Just remember to leave a tip, these guys work for free.

This is why I use PC-Cyllin

Norton and McAfee always seemed to be more trouble than they were worth.

Eset NOD32 has the best catch rate in the industry and has maintained that for years. It has a small resource footprint and scans quickly. 30 day free trial. Been using it on all of my Windows machines for three years and I would never use anything else.

I use iFrames with a reload for banner generation. Could the forced reload be part of the issue?

Also, there are some utm code snippets for "Urchin" to work as well.

I don't know how or why, but I'm sure this has something to do with it. Their was a thread a couple of weeks or so ago where you stated ad specs. for the site or something like that. I quarried that because I had never seen the ads.

A week or so ago I had to completely uninstall Norton and Reinstall. I had never seen the ads before the reinstall, and never had a problem before.

I'm just explaining my circumstance with the issue, I don't really know "squat" about it. Seems to have something to do with the forced reload though.

Norton is a bunch of dorks. Let's dumb down the entire internet so Norton can 'protect us'.

The reloads shouldn't be doing it, I'd need to know more about this Urchin thing. ActiveX control?

Norton AV is a resource hog, I dumped it for McAfee a couple years ago as my school provided a free perpetual license to the enterprise edition to all staff/students/faculty. I've been pretty happy with it, no complaints at all.
