Default Avatars

How come more and more peoples' avatars aren't showing up these days, replaced with a link that says "joeblow's avatar"?

I just uploaded a new one myself and it doesn't show up in the forums...do they have to go through an approval process now or something?

Aroo?!

I checked this morning on the mac (IE/Safari/FF) and the XP machine (IE/FF) and not seeing any problems. When that shows up, could you tell me what image address it's showing?

I have noticed problems when uploading an avatar if I haven't cleared out my cache on my browser.

I know Mr_Creepy talked about using an ad blocker to block large avatars. Perhaps it's something like that you might have configured?

BTW, your avatar appears just fine (looks like you on a luge?) on this end.

LOL, Aloft looks like a 55 year old woman (It's Grandma Luge, from the Virgin Islands... she broke her wrist and won't be participating)

Problem solved, turned out to be a DNS issue on my end.

How did you rectify it?

I think in Firefox, if you're blocking the image's source, it puts just the text of what it reads when you mouseover, so on JC it would say "XXX's avatar"... I think I was having the same problem on my parents' computer back around Christmastime.
