| Smilies & UserCP Options... I think it's important for everyone to get to know their own userCP tools and functions.
within your userCP area (where you find your PM's and so forth), there's an edit options button. Those are your individual options that you can choose from to customize your posting experience and so forth here.
With it, you can change the forum to your own time zone, choose a prefered style (altho we only have the 2 right now), you can choose a preferred thread listing (linear with oldest first or what not) and most importantly, you can turn on the wysiwyg options so that you can use any font, bold or not, any color and SMILIES! the old smilies are there and available for the taking!
there are settings to set up subsciptions (favorite threads) and have notification emailed to you when there's a reply.. or to have all new threads emailed to you (that's why it's important to have a workable email address in your profile). There's a way to turn your email ON so that others can email you without seeing your actual email address etc...
and SO much more!! there's a ton of settings to choose from to make JC work the way you want it to...
this software is 110% better than the old, you just have to experiment with it, research it on your own and get to know "your options".
So i really suggest you check out the settings and customize them to preference because the next "where are the old smilies" thread we get will be called out as SA with a link to this thread! haha
Just an FYI to do your research with this new product! |

| Allow me to walk people throught the setup for smilies step by step. There still seems to be a lot of confusion on this:
1. <User CP> (top menu bar, first one on the left)
2. <Edit Options> (first menu along left edge of screen, fourth choice down)
3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, to the section labeled "Miscellaneous Options"
4. In the "Message Editor Interface" section, choose "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing".
Now when you compose a post you should see some smilies to the right of the text box, as well as some options above the text box for additional functions such as Inserting a Link, Inserting Images, adding Attachments, as well as text size, color, font, bold, underline, bullets, etc.
