Hi Folks.., Just curious about the age group at the Aviator as I'm 42 years young! I'm scheduled to get my Class 1 tomorrow. If I pass, the house hits the market next week! When it sells, we're Fortpierce bound!

42 here also, decided to go back to school, finish my degree and move into flying about 3 years ago. Currently I'm in the final year of my Bachelor's at UVSC and looking for anyplace to fly. Started working on my private back in 1996; currently commercial SEL instrument with 450 hours total time, 26 multi. Start your search early for place to work, a few places will take 500 TT, but most require 1000 or more and 50-100 multi minimum. Good Luck, I have no regrets and would not change a thing in my decision to come this way. Also consider places like Civil Air Patrol to help you build flight time, it inexpensive and for a good cause (search and rescue of fellow pilots in trouble).

Hit the big 52 this year, and I'm also on the trailing end of my career as well. Kids are almost gone, so I'm interested in pursuing a second career I can be proud to do as well. Working on my Master's to keep the mind stimulated, and I fly as often as I can with my co-worker pilots to ensure my aviation skills do not diminish when I do transition to my second avocation. |

Well It's definately good to see other guys my age taking the leap! I'm about a month away from moving to Vero Beach and I'm really excited! At 42 I'm finally gonna do it! Hey it would be really great if we could keep in touch wether it's via this board or what ever but I am making periodic updates in the career changers forum under the heading or "Almost to be Career changer updates." Don't know how much interest there is in anything like that but I thought maybe reading about the trials and tribulations of someone who is actually quitting hia well paying job and selling his home to start a career in flying would either serve to scare or encourage other folks to pursue their dream. Take care and best of luck to all of us! More to follow... Rudy
