Does anyone know if you go to flight safety, or equiv. for initial training as an SIC (135), if you can have that checkride also count as an ATP? I know getting the type is the same ride, I just don't know if the SIC check does the same?

Nope- dont think so...a 135 SIC check is different from an ATP and/or type check. The SIC check has fewer required items on it (cant remember exactly what is cut) and the oral is generally quite easy. The ATP check is a PIC check- i.e. to qualify you (per the FAA) to act as a Captain in the airplane.

Hmm, don't know why this got moved. I ment Flight Safety International as in the simulator/ type rating part of the company, not the "learn to fly" Acadamey. Thanks David, that's what I figured, I was just hoping that I was wrong and when I get the sim training on the LR-35 (hopefully in about a year) as an SIC I could get the ATP at the same time.... Ah well, at least I don't have to study for the written anytime soon

Have fun with the 35 and watch out for those tip tanks- they make landing quite fun. Remember "600"- magic number- 600lbs min in wings for go around, 600 unusable with jet pump inop, and there's one more but I cant remember it right now...
