I have submitted my application to Flight Safety, with a planned starting date of September 7th, which is unconfirmed at this time. Planning on private through CFI. Excited and scared at the same time. I plan on flying down there about 2 weeks early, suggestions on what I should plan for? I'm expecting to be in a dorm room(the three room, shared kitchen ones), so i'm not bringing much with me. Do those dorm rooms have beds? I can't remember if they did or not. |

The dorm rooms have beds, a television, a desk and a few linen items. Good luck and have fun in Vero!

| If you're planning on flying down, I assume you don't have an automobile. Recommend you get a used bicycle to get around in. Lots of other students do that. You're going to have to get around outside the campus to pick up food, toiletries etc. So you're going to need some type of transporation. The airport is surrounded by residential neighborhoods. A Walmart and other stores are located close by, but too far for walking. APU |

yea that was the idea, a bicycle. I'm currently auctioning off my lifes belongings, lol. It's kind of distressing, yet slighty satisfying at the same time. I go in for my first class medical physical on Monday, I'm scared. |

You can always buy a cheap used car somewhere on US1. Just in an idea.

[ QUOTE ] Vero Beach sucks! [/ QUOTE ] Vero Beach is what you make of it. It's all about planning fun things to do with the friends you make at school. Besides, having the ability to sit on the beach everyday and perhaps study on the beach if needed? Life should be so bad! I had great times in Vero, yet I was also not a single man! |

If your worried about the lack of nightlife your not studying hard enough. Do you think it's coincidence that all the Air Force training bases are in the middle of nowhere? Plus there's plenty of parties & BBQs going on on campus on the weekends (wow that's a lot of 'ons') I always flew on Saturdays so Saturday night was my only night off so to say. I usually got together with friends and watched movies and played on the playstation. All you really need to bring is clothes and an alarm clock, all else is provided. Living on campus was fun cause you got to study together and if you were ever bored you just walked down the hallway to see some friends. Took a while getting used to living in a house again, I couldn't just walk down the hall for social acitivies anymore. |

[ QUOTE ] If your worried about the lack of nightlife your not studying hard enough [/ QUOTE ] Dude it's flight school not a PhD program! Compared to the university I went to FSA was a cake walk. I say work hard during the week and drink beer on the weekends when you're not flying...lots of beer. I flew twice a day usually two days a week to speed up the process and save money. As for your military flight school example, it's true they're in the middle of nowhere but from the people I've talked to who've done it they had plenty of fun in their spare time. Work hard play hard....worked for me never repeated a lesson, never failed a checkride on the first try, and finished spending less money than I thought I would. |

HAHAHAHA.. Snow I was worried about my nightlife... The Greeks and the Germans were in West Palm and Miami every week, didnt effect anything I was doing at FSI. Studying and having a blast! Never failed a Checkride, and finished program in 7 months. |
