While I am still trying to find more out, I heard that another pilot around here was rushing to get 400hr so that he could go to FL with Flight Safety and enter a program towards the majors (ok regionals to start). This is second hand (from my instructor). He said the pilot was to get a job with a regional in the end. I wanted to know if anyone knows about this and how they can enter mid-stream. I will post more when I know more too. Thanks |

It sounds like he is trying to get on with the direct track program. Why he thinks he needs 400 hours is a mystery. |

Why he think he needs a "direct track" program is a mystery. You can easily get to most regional mins in about a year of instructing. And build better experience, and get paid instead of paying out the nose. To each his own I guess... |

Found out more today. Has just over 350 hours now is going to FSA in the next few weeks, will get commercial there and then interview with ASA, XJET, or someone else. With intent to hire does another 200+ hours in sims folowing company specific plans. Once passed there, on to regional. He wants XJET and will do sims in ERJ-140 (I think he said). Interesting idea. Commerical to Regional Cost is just under $50,000. |
