Default Converting a Foerign Licence

Heya guys, this is my first ever post on here!

I am planning on starting at FSA at the end of this year on the Pro Pilot Scheme.
Basically I hold a JAA PPL(A) and was wondering, what would I need to do to convert it?
If I'm going to be doing an FAA CPL(IR) then I need to base it on an FAA PPL...rite?
Therefore will I need to just do a flight test and exam when I get to FSA to convert?

I hope someone can help!

If you have a foreign pilot's license, you can get a US PPL based on your foreign license. All you have to do is go to Orlando, FL where the FAA has an office and meet with them. You will also need your medical.

If you have questions about this, FSI should be able to answer them for you.

Thanks very much for the reply,

It's all very daunting looking at the American system from this side of the pond, but I can't wait to get started!

Call the school and ask for Mr. Wakefield, the director of training. He take care of these in house I believe, he has the power!!! If not he will point you in the right direction. Maybe Pavelump can chime in here as he had a student with a mexican Pvt.

If you haven't called yet, here's what you might hear from mr. wakefield......1st, you'll need to get a letter of authenticity from whatever agency issued your license...this can take a lot of time, so the sooner you start the process, the better off you'll be...with that in hand, and a picture ID, you'll fill out a US application for a pilots license (8710)...take all of that to mr. wakefield and he'll sign it off and get you a license....when you get there, fsi will walk you through the whole process during enrollment....

Thank you all for the posts, I will give Mr wakefield a call today, I understand what your saying about taking a while to get the paperwork sorted out, especailly when it comes to the Civil Aviation Authority.
One thing they are quick at though is taking money off you!!!
