Default The ASA Internship

Hi All,

I've been in Atlanta since March working at Atlantic Southeast Airlines (a Delta Connection carrier) as an intern. I have been able to gain a really valuable glimpse into the airline industry, as well as into the day to day operations of the flight training department at the airline. From jumpseating on the CRJ and ATR to just running errands around the airport, I've had many great experiences here. ASA is a wonderful company, and I recommend anyone at FlightSafety to consider an internship with them.

If you complete the 3 month internship with ASA successfully, and don't make a complete fool of yourself, you will get an interview with reduced minima (500 and 100 multi) a few months after you've finished.

One of the things I was surprised to learn was that FlightSafety and ASA are really closely affilliated. Literally across the street from each other, the instructors in my department go to FlightSafety nearly every day to run ground schools, give simulator training, or just get publications out to recurrent pilots.

Since I've been here, about 10 of my colleagues from the FSI in Vero Beach have come through basic indoc at ASA. A few of them came to ASA with plenty of hours after instruction, but most came from the Direct Track Program. It has been nice to see the growth that ASA is experiencing benefiting people I know from Vero.

I can hardly believe that I may have a job with an airline soon (a real job, not just an internship). FlightSafety has done a lot to prepare me for my career, and much of that help was through networking, as opposed to flight training. Sure, the training was excellent, but I would never have this internship were it not for the close relationship that FSI has with ASA.

For those interested in looking into the internship, go to:

http://www.delta.com/prog_serv/delta...nter/index.jsp

To be eligible from FlightSafety, you must have gotten your CFI through FlightSafety and sucessfully interviewed for a position, or be currently instructing at FSI. If course, if you have any questions, just send me a message.

Hey G,
Are you finished with your internship? It looks like my class date will be early June if the TSA background check goes through smoothly. We have 4 in the direct track now and 5 more starting on Monday so the program is really busy. Glad to hear about your experience, let me know when you "officially" come back to Vero.

No, I have until June 20, so I'll still be here when you start. My supervisor, Darrin, is the one who did the Direct Track checkrides today. I'm sure they all went well. Clint Moore, the guy you met last time you were here, was very curious to see how the new program with the ERJ is going to work out. They seem to be pretty excited about it.

I think I'm going to be coming down to Vero sometime after the first of May, so I'll give you a call when I know for sure. By the way, I saw Jackie, Clint Hill, Mary Wood, and several other students at Sun N Fun last weekend.

See you,

Grayson

I was very happy with my CFI training. It will certainly prepare you to be an instructor, not just to pass the checkride. PM me if you have any questions.
