Default Hmmmmmm..... Air Safety Academy ?????

I was looking through AOPA Flight Training mag today and saw an ad for "Air Safety Academy". A little too close for comfort on the name don't ya think? Not like FSA would be worried being as FSA has been the leader in pilot training for 50 years.

Didn't there used to be an "Air Safety" on the field in Vero beach a few years back?

anyway, I found it interesting....ILS

clrair,
After reviewing your previous posts, it became VERY clear that you are an employee of Pan-am. Please tell me that you are not upset because someone (me ) posted that a flight school other than Pan-am is the leader in the industry? I certainly hope that you are not trying compare P.A. to FSA. I think you had better go back and read some of your own schools posts and focus on changing your students impressions of your school before cruising the FSA forum.

FlightSafety International is the industry leader in pilot training..prove me wrong..

*65,000 pilots trained annualy
*42 centers worldwide

From speaking to professional pilots, training there myself and learning about the company history I feel FlightSafety is one of the most reputable well known pilot training organizations in the world...

Hey FSA is pretty darn good, but calling yourself the "Leader of the Industry" is just begging for a flame, isn't it?

Can you think of another? Besides, this is our forum. If I wanted to start a fire I would have posted it on their forums. It amazes me when people from other schools that have far too many disgruntled students at their school, attempt to come on to our forum with our happy students and stir up controversy. Hey John, how are the seminars going?

The seminars are mostly dead. Nobody wants to pay. I do free safety seminars up here in Orlando, but I am not going to take two days out of my life, go down to Vero and put on a full day seminar with free CD video for nothing.

Tanya and I are stumped. We don't know how to "kick start" the program any more than we have.

Yes, Flight Safety International. NOT Flight Safety Academy. The two are not mutually exclusive.

There's a big difference in the Academy (which no doubt, does have a thorough program), and Flight Safety International which specialized in type ratings, recurrency, etc.

Apples and oranges.

Not so fast.

FSI= Great training.
FSA= Great training, same company.

Now, bear with me...

PanAm= Craphole.
Simcom= Craphole, same company.

So, if you PanAm'ers really aren't over here looking for a way to stir up trouble, you won't see this post and it won't turn into a flame fest.

I have no affiliation with, nor have I ever looked into, or know anyone at.... nore care about - PanAm.

The reports I've heard from professional pilots is that - yes - Flight Safety Academy has a "good program", but so does ATP, Ari Ben, and schools like ERAU and UND.

To say one is the "industry leader" is purely speculative.

To say that Flight Safety International is the "industry leader" when it comes to type-ratings/recurrent training/insurance checkouts - then - yes - that could be true.

Just because two separate companies (FSA/FSI) (PanAm/SimCom) are owned by the same corporation, that does not make them the same company.

The Outback Group owns Outback Steakhouse, Flemmings, Roys, BoneFish Grille, LeRoy Selmans, etc. They all cook food - doesn't make them the same company.

It's simple business 101.

Again - not saying that FSA isn't a good program - but "the industry leader"?? Purely speculative.

What I can tell you about Flight Safety Academy is that the program was put together by Flight Safety International and that FSI out of New York say's what will be used, revised, added or removed from the program. Flight Safety International has a hand in everything that goes on at the academy on a daily basis and if someone at the academy wants something changed then they call New York.

This is why the program is so solid and has such a high success rate. It has been formed and run by the best airline simulator training company in the world. Everything from the SOP to the syllabus to the checklists for the aircraft....all created by Flight Safety International to prepare the students for a career in advanced aircraft...

Cool.

And again.... no doubt it's a great program. Very well organized and is highly regarded.

But "industry leader"??? Debatable.

Understand that I'm not trying "rip" on FSA. Not in the least. Just offering an outside perspective. It's fantastic that those who attend FSA speak highly of it's program. I hope you all succeed in whatever you set out to do.

Just understand that others believe they are "the best" too... and have outside sources who will support that belief.

Best of luck! Fly safe!

I think it would be interesting to see the pass rates on checkrides at all schools throughout the U.S.. I would be willing to bet that FSA has the best pass rate. If not, then it would probably be a close first, second, and third with Riddle and UND.

Seriously, I would like to see it for kicks and giggles. There are some other great schools out there. I am not saying that theres not but, there is a reason why FSA has the reputation they do in the industry and if they are not the leader then they are running a close second to one of the above mentioned.

If we could get an ACCURATE pass rate score from the FAA, it would be "fun" to look at.....Don't ya think?

Might be interesting, for sure.

Thanks for keeping our discussion civil. Like I said - in no way was I trying to rip FSA. I respect their program.... along with a few others. Just trying to add a little parity to a pretty hefty claim. That's all.

I think Part 141 school pass rates are available from the FAA.
