Moving down in 3 weeks, just a few questions

Yeah hi I am starting the private audit on 8/2 and I just wanted to ask some current students or anyone who already went through some questions:

1. Arriving how long before orientation would you recommend to get everything taken care of, (bank, etc.)

2. If I want to live somewhere off campus is it best to just wait and find people once I'm already there? (Im currently signed up for on campus 3bd apts)

3. What would be the best way to prepare during the last month prior to starting? Do I really have to come in fresh and current, because I haven't been in a plane in over 2 months.

4. Is a laptop a neccesity, and what else do I really need (besides headset and flying gear)

Thats all I can think of right now, thanks

If you arive late wednesday or early thursday you should be fine.

The dorms were OK, and I stayed in them my whole time. I would recomend staying in the dorms while you look for an apartment, that shouldn't take more than a month.

I would do a little flying 1-2 hrs, but don't get worked up about prepareing. Just fly a little so you are at PPL standards.
Studying the books will probably be more benifical. The private audit is a really good course.

A laptop isn't nessacery, but it is nice. I'm told that the dorms have internet now.

Bring your flying stuff, but don't buy anything new till you get there. They have a pilot shop with anything and everything you need. They have pretty good prices. One thing however, they require that your flying bag be black, so don't do like I did and buy a red one the week before.

They're pretty good, and will give you a good idea of what to expect.

Unless a bunch of people share a house or somthing I've figured out it's cheaper to live on campus once you take into account of everything that is included in the rent, like cable tv, utilites, not having to drive to school everyday, free axcess to facilities etc etc, just because the rent price of an off campus place is cheaper doesn't mean it's cheaper overall, I've heard with air conditioning, electricity bills can run $100 a month but that's all included in dorm rental price, not to mention maid service

Just somthing to think about, personally I don't know why anyone would want to move off campus unless they want a larger place and have money to burn, but that's just me. *shrugs*

Yea I may just end up living in the campus apartments for a while. Hey snow, what sort of internet connection do you have in the campus housing, and how much extra do you have to pay for it? thanks

Well each room has a phone line but you have to pay $30 somthing a month to have it connected, ISP fees on top of that, or you could get this wireless internet thing for like $40 a month, not sure of the details on that one other than its fast. I just use the free internet in the libary.
