Default Scheduler

What is necessary to become an airline scheduler?
Is there any special training or school?
Is it possible to get a job if you do not work in an airline?

Thanks.

I was a scheduler with Colgan. I didnt even know what position I was applying for, I just submitted my resume for any type of "clerical" position.

For regional airlines they pretty much will throw you into it and teach you as you go along. There is no special training.

For larger airlines, Im sure they would want some type of scheduling or dispatch experience previously.
